Aftermath of last week's Tiny Alien Explosion?

22/02/10

Hello all!

Hope everyone is recovering after Star Wars, a week of hard work and rest. What you'll find in this week's email:

Events this Week

AGM Reminder

Observations of a Star Wars Marathon

Events:

RPG: Various days

Games continue as normal this week, after whatever crazy schemes your GM's came up with for Reading Week. As usual get in contact with myself or Rhi if you'd like to start playing something. Currently running are:

Paranoia
Traveller
Star Wars RPG
Dungeons and Dragons: 3.5 edition
Dark Heresy

Contact your GM for more details about your games or turn up to the pub on Thursday - where there will inevitably be betrayal and arranging of games for the weekend.

Film Night: Thursday from 6pm, Roberts G08 David Davies LT

This week we'll be watching something that's a surprise! Although not really. The start of democracy will be heralded by choice! It'll be a vote between some options that are brought along including Serenity, Terminator 2 and The Cube.

No new home for Film Night this week, we're back in Roberts G08 as every week this term.

Apologises for the lack of democracy over the last few weeks, a combination of dark forces and evil schemes have kept it at bay for three weeks...which I'm informed lead to horrors last Thursday. There's a new poll up for next week on the forums, head on over and get voting for what you want to watch!

Wargaming: Wednesday, 6pm in the CSC

Wargaming should continue this week at the usual time, in the usual place. After several weeks of no contact with the Eta Carinae sector, there have been garbled transmissions received from several of the key worlds. Perhaps some dark forces conspire to keep events within the sector hidden from the eyes of the Imperium.
Check the forums for more info about organising Warhammer 40,000 games.

Picocon 3^3: Saturday 27th February, 10 am, Meet in the UCL Main Quad

Next Saturday is Picocon! This is a convention-style event held every year by Imperial College which we'll get discounts to. This year's programme includes talks/discussions with Alastair Reynolds, Amanda Hemingway and Jaine Fenn - as well as traditional favourites such as silly games, destruction of dodgy merchandise and what will certainly not be a fish duel.
The plan is to head down to Imperial on Saturday morning, arriving around 10.30 am. Unfortunately that means leaving from UCL at 10 am. It's a terrible crime to suggest such a thing, however if another novel (like last year's literary classic The Carrot of Doom) is read then it's more than worth it.

So I'll be in the Quad at about 10 am on Saturday 27th, meet me there. If you want to meet us at Imperial - later in the day, then chuck me an email so I can let Imperial know who you are. Without membership cards it's hard to get the discount that everyone from the Society is entitled to unless you're arriving early.

Entrance will be £8, bring it on the day and (as much as I hate to say it) pay Imperial.

AGM Reminder

The yearly Society AGM is next Monday at 18.30 pm in Malet Place 1.20. It's your chance to vote on changes to the Society, comment on this year and elect next year's committee. All members are welcome and have the ability to cast votes and make inspiring speeches.
I promise that the Dark Tower may even listen to comments this time, apparently it's not democratic if I don't!

Nominations are still open for positions. Feel free to email me or to post them on the forums. Any questions direct to either of those options as well.

Observations of a Star Wars Marathon
In conditions that could only be described as "leaking science all over the place" and "totally fair and just", an important study was carried out last week.

There are 1147 (+/- 700 depending on estimates for Return of the Jedi) small aliens/robots in Star Wars. That is all I remember about last Wednesday. Fact.

That's it for this week! Enjoy the first week back (if possible).

Reading Week 2: The Phantom Clones' Revenge on Hope for a Strike Back at the Jedi?

15/02/10

Howdy all!

As the subject suggests it's Reading Week again and this time something epic is going down. In this week's email:

Events this week

Picocon 3^3

AGM

Events:

RPGs: Various Days as usual
This week RPGs may continue as normal or may evolve into something slightly longer depending on how much work your GM has decided to get done this week. Contact them for specifics. Games running this term are the same as last week - contact Rhi (the RPG representative) if you want to join.
Running this term:

Dungeons and Dragons 3.5 edition
Dark Heresy
Paranoia
Star Wars RPG
Traveller

Film Night: Thursday from 6pm in Roberts G08.
This week I've been promised will be "an amazing puppet double bill" with Labyrinth (apologises for last week) and The Dark Crystal. Labyrinth is the film we scheduled last week, but unfortunately we didn't get to show due to existence issues. The Dark Crystal promises:

"Another planet, another time. 1000 years ago the mysterious Dark Crystal was damaged by one of the Urskeks and an age of chaos has began! The evil race of grotesque birdlike lizards the Skeksis, gnomish dragons who rule their fantastic planet with an iron claw. Meanwhile the orphan Jen, raised in solitude by a race of the peace-loving wizards called the Mystics, embarks on a quest to find the missing shard of the Dark Crystal which gives the Skesis their power and restore the balance of the universe."

Swords and sorcery on another planet, what could be better?! We'll be in the same lecture theatre as we have been for the entire term - Roberts G08, in all it's partially lit glory. Film should start around 6.20pm. There will of course be the trip to the pub afterwards although absolutely no karaoke this week. That's probably a good thing.

Something Epic this way comes: Wednesday 8.30am - 9pm, Malet Place 1.02
In a strange twist of fate, it seems that Estates have decided to grant the most audacious request made by the Dark Tower since the start of term. We've booked Malet Place 1.02 for 12 hours and the plan is to attempt to marathon: Star Wars.

That's right. This Wednesday, we're going to attempt to watch every minute of Episode 1-6 in UCL. Feel free to join us for the epic attempt, you don't have to stay for all of it - you may (for example) absolutely hate Episode 2 or have other life commitments. Although I can't think what they might be...

Meet in Malet Place 1.02 or outside the main engineering building on Torrington Place (if the building is not open yet).

Picocon 3^3
Another reminder about Picocon 3^3, the annual convention-style get together held at Imperial College. This year's is on the 27th February and starts at 10 am. More details about getting there will follow next week.

If you plan to go then either reply to the Facebook event as "attending" or "maybe attending" or send me an email. The lack of membership cards this year means it'll be hard for Imperial to know who we are (and so reduce the entrance fee) - unless you arrive with the group. Attached is the flyer that I've been told to pass around.

AGM
6.30pm, Malet Place 1.20, Monday 1st March 2010
Another reminder of the AGM. The date has now been confirmed as the 1st March, in the room know as Malet Place 1.20, from 6.30 pm onwards. Nominations for positions are now open and can be either made on the forums or by emailing me and conspiring in secret.

And that's it, enjoy the week!

An email in which there isn't much text?

08/02/10

Hello all!

Firstly, sorry for the slightly late version of this week's email, I was sucked into a bet with Darth Vader and Sauron the Deceiver about the outcome of a small Earth sporting event last night. In better news though, there'll be a new owner of Barad Dur by the end of the week! Secondly, apologises for the email length, it seems rather short this week - which is worrying. My script writers must need firing from a small artillery piece again. Anyway in this week's email:

Events this Week

Laser Quest

Reading Week

Events:

RPG: Various Games, Various Days
More good news from my mystics, I have learned of the many RPGs that are currently running. Days are variable, so it's probably best to contact your GM or come along on Thursday evening for the weekend organising of games that always happens. Currently running are:
Paranoia
Dungeons and Dragons (3.5 edition)
Dark Heresy
Star Wars RPG
Traveller

Film Night: Thursday, Roberts G08 Sir David Davis LT, from 6pm
This week we'll be watching Labyrinth, a fantasy classic from the 1980s about a girl who wishes her brother away to a fantasy kingdom where he becomes trapped by the goblin king - which apparently happens to star David Bowie and his crotch.

We'll be in Roberts G08 again this week, along with the lights that don't turn off and all the other wonderful features of the Engineering building. We've got the room from 6pm but the film won't start until 6.20 pm. Again I'll swing through the Main Quad at 6pm in case the Engineering building is a maze to you.

We'll also be in ULU from 9pm, like usual.

As always more film suggestions are welcome!

Wargaming:
This week is Laser Quest on Wednesday, so Battlefleet Gothic will be taking a break this week. Warhammer 40,000 games continue as usual, organised through the forums:

Laser Quest:
This Wednesday is Laser Quest!
We'll be meeting at 5pm next to the stone benches outside Euston Station. Please be on time, we'll be travelling across London at rush hour so we need to leave promptly. If you haven't paid yet then email me to arrange something tomorrow or bring the money on Wednesday.

Board Games: Wednesday from 2pm, Meet in the CSC
Board Games will be running almost as usual although finishing earlier due to meeting for Laser Quest. We'll be meeting in the CSC and heading down to Rockefeller B14A - which will be less busy than the CSC on Wednesday afternoon.

Laser Quest:
As noted above: Wednesday Evening!

Reading Week:
I'm still taking suggestions for films or trips during Reading Week. Let me know or post them here if you've got any ideas!

That's about it for this week. Enjoy it!

Hey all!

If the email's subject line doesn't make you want to read the entire thing then I don't know what will. In this week's email:

Events this Week

Picocon 3 Cubed

Laser Quest

Reading Week

Events:

RPG: Various days
Once again, RPGs remains a section of the society hidden from the Dark Tower's All-Seeing Eye by the dark sorceries of the RPG Rep. The wisest course of action in these troubled times is to wait for information from your GM or email them about games. If you're interested in anything new then either post on the forums or send a mail to me or Rhi (theaoc@live.co.uk)
Failing that there's always something organised in ULU after Film Night on Thursdays - so feel free to pop along then.

Film Night: Thursday, Roberts G08 from 6.20 pm. (Quad at 6pm, see below)
The Fifth Element
This week, the voters have spoken again! We'll be watching the fantastical universe of The Fifth Element. It's set in Earth's future, after the invention of space travel and the discovery of several alien races (including a group of warlike pigs!) Suddenly Evil itself returns to the galaxy to destroy all life but the cosmos provides a weapon with which life can defend itself. The film stars Bruce Willis as an unwilling participant in the search for this weapon and the race against time to destroy Evil. (Plus as the subject line suggests, Gary Oldman has a creature in his desk).

For this week's film, we're back in the same room as all the Film Nights this term. Roberts G08, on the ground floor of the Main Engineering Building on Torrington Place. Seems as we've been there before, we'll meet in the lecture theatre this week and aim to start at around 6.20 pm. However if you still don't trust your navigational skills, I'll make a quick stop in the Quad at about 6pm to pick up anyone who's marauder's map has failed them.

Board Games: Wednesday from 2.00 pm in the CSC
Weekly board games will continue as usual!

Last week, several brave humans faced the zombie apocalypse once again and only one survived. We might be taking a break from Zombies this week, as last week's losers search for a zombification cure somewhere in small town America.

Wargaming: Wednesday from 6pm in the CSC
Battlefleet Gothic will also continue as usual - hopefully occupying enough space to have a huge engagement over an entire planetary ring system again.
Warhammer 40k games can be organised through the forums, head on over and post if you're interested in playing.

Picocon 3 Cubed
It's rapidly approaching the date for this year's Picocon - which bears the subtitle 3 cubed (which I assume is because it's the 27th Picocon, but that would mean I actually knew something about maths...). The details are as follows:

Date: 27th February
Location: Imperial College Union, Beit Quadrangle
Time: Starts in mid morning (around 10am) and continues all day.
So What is it?!: Picocon is an annual "convention" style meet-up held at Imperial College. Over the day they have talks and presentations given by authors and various other famous faces, destruction of rubbish merchandising, reading of books (that can only be described as terrible) to raise money for charity and a whole lot more. This years guests of honour are:
  • Alastair Reynolds
  • Amanda Hemingway
  • Jaine Fenn
What are we doing about it?: Every year SFFS usually meet up in UCL and head on down to Imperial to represent UCL and show Imperial how much more awesome we are. The price will be £8 admission, as long as you're either travelling with the group or you let me know you'll be coming separately - so I can give Imperial your name. There'll be a forum thread up by the end of the day for signing up/general questions.
Where Can I find out more?: Well right now you can either email me or there's this rather helpful webpage: http://www.union.ic.ac.uk/scc/icsf/social/events/picocon/index.html

Laser Quest
Attention all valiant warriors of the Sci Fi and Fantasy Society! We now have 16 people enlisted to do battle with the Anime Society and J-Soc in the arena of Laser Quest. It's planned for the evening of the 10th February, if you're interested but have not been reading emails (then be ashamed) and then let me know. There might still be some spaces if you tell me quickly enough.

Everyone who has signed up already, there'll be an email about prices and details sometime later today - once all the correct paperwork has been filed in the Tower.

Reading Week
Reading week is rapidly approaching! If anyone would like to spend all day watching Star Wars, playing an epic board game or wandering around London visiting shops (anything really) then email me or suggest it to the internet on our forums.

And that's it for this week. Enjoy!

President
UCLU Sci Fi and Fantasy Society

Dystopian Future Incoming‏!

25/01/10

Hey everyone!

After last week's bug invested propaganda song karaoke/serious theological debate that was Starship Troopers 3, we return from the Arachnid Quarantine Zone to slightly more normal settings. In this week's email:

Events this Week

Library

Laser Quest

Events:

RPG: Various Days
As usual there aren't many specifics to report here, only the usual confusing signals that originate from the Dark Tower. RPGs will continue this week, it's best to contact your GM about days and times either in person or on the forums. There's currently a discussion about starting a new game of Dungeons and Dragons, so if you're interested then head over and check it out.
If it's not on the forums, it will probably be discussed in ULU after Film Night on Thursday - so if you can't face what we're showing this week then please come along afterwards!

Boardgaming:
The playing of boardgames will once again occur on Wednesday afternoon from 2pm in the CSC.
Last week a brave team of survivors fended off hordes and hordes of zombies (and not just zombies, American Small Town Zombies!) for 5 hours - until eventually one brave soul (who, if I remember correctly was rather dashing)* escaped in the helicopter! So come and join us this week!

Full list of available games here:

Film Night: Thursday, Meet 6pm in the Quad or Roberts G08.
After a totally free and fair democratic process, approved by the United Nations**, that occurred last week, this week's film should be The Running Man. The film stars action hero Arnold Schwarzeneggar as a wrongfully accused criminal in a future where punishment is a reality TV programme, in which the criminal is hunted down and killed by mercenaries. Come and join in the inevitable 1980s Sci Fi fun.

We'll be back in Roberts G08 (ground floor of the Engineering building) again this week, if you can't find it or prefer to stand in the cold of the Quad beforehand then we'll be in the usual place at 6pm!

There will also be another poll, to vote on next week's film, that goes up later today. If you really want to see something then feel free to use the forums to convince others to vote for it! Everybody has their price!

Wargaming: Wednesday from 6pm in the CSC
Despite being prevented from actual ship to ship combat (due to the proximity of Zombies!) last week, Battlefleet Gothic will be continuing this week at the usual time in the usual place.
Also rumours of an epic 40k showdown in Games Workshop today between Space Marines and Eldar - may be true! If you're interested in playing Warhammer 40,000 then feel free to ask about it on the forums or contact us!

Library
A message has reached me from the vast library planet of SFFS Prime! The Book Lord says:

"Every day, I enter my flat to the sound of restless rustling, and subsonic sobbing. The books glare down, accusingly, demanding to be borrowed, demanding to be read. The library is vast, the library is overflowing – please, please, come forth and borrow, before the shelves collapse and the bookcases tumble. Think of the poor, neglected books! Take a few moments to browse though the ever-expanding catalogue, and then email me at alexander.millington@ucl.ac.uk, and I’ll bring your choice along to the next film-night (or at least to the post-film pub-meet), saving you from boredom on your next tube journey, and saving me from an ignominious death, tenderised by a toppled tower of tomes."

Laser Quest
Laser Quest is booked for the 10th February (Wednesday just before Reading Week). We're booked in at 7.35 pm at the centre in Bromley (follow links below) so we'll be leaving from UCL between 6pm and 6.30pm - times to be confirmed once I've spoken to representatives from our opponents (Anime Society and J-Soc). Assuming they don't offer to surrender instantly then:

"It is most definitely on!"

The arena isn't that large, approx 40 people at once apparently. Close quarter fighting will be tough, but I'm sure that the Dark Legion's terror squads can manage it!
If you are interested then please email me or post on the forums before the end of the week! Another email (in which I ramble, like paintballing) will follow with times and exact prices to the list of those who have signed up.

Apart from another mention of how great The Quest for Beauty was, that's pretty much it for this week!

Enjoy it!

Mark O'Brien
President
UCLU Sci Fi and Fantasy Society

*Contrary to popular opinion, the Dark Lord's victory is not compulsory every week. At least not yet.
** Democratic process may not necessarily have been approved by the United Nations.

The Bugs are back!?!

18/01/10

Hey all

I hope the first week back wasn't too traumatic.

In this week's email:

Events this Week

Laser Quest

Events:

RPG: Various Days
As usual, RPGs should be running on their respective days as dictated by the whims of your Game Masters. Again if you're interested in playing something that might not be running this term then email our RPG rep or make noise about it on the forums. The internet hears your pain!

Film Night: Starship Troopers 3: Thursday 6pm, Main Quad or from 6.30pm in Roberts G08 Sir David Davies LT
This week sees the return of Film Night, after spending many weeks sunning itself in the glory of some releases that might actually be worth watching. The vote for this week's film made a covert entrance to the forums last week, as it slipped through the cracks of the Dark Tower's filing system when it came to mentioning it in the email, apologises. However it seems enough people found it to vote for Starship Troopers 3 as the film to usher in the new year and new decade.
Again from the murky mist that surrounds room bookings, comes another home that we've visited once before. This week we'll be using Roberts G08, which is on the ground floor of the main Engineering building on Torrington Place. We'll be hanging around the Quad at about 6pm if your memory of UCL lecture theatres isn't photographic (probably a good thing).

Don't forget to check out the new Film poll that will go up later today to decide on the screening next week. Again hopefully random numbers will supply a good mix of serious and non serious offerings.

Wargaming: Wednesday in the CSC, from 6pm
Last week saw a terrible defeat for the Tau fleet, crushed by the resurgent Imperial Navy which seemed to find more luck in one battle than had been granted to them in the whole of last year. There must be evil afoot. Join in more battles to Eta Carinae on Wednesday at the usual time in the CSC.

Board Games: *New*
Wednesday from 2pm, CSC
Following the world domination style scheming, shameless power plays and random ideas that filled the last committee meeting - we're trying something new this Wednesday from 2pm. We'll be playing a series of board games and attempting to survive the Zombie Apocalypse (it's happened!) in the CSC. This week is sort of a taster session to see if there's any interest or if we need a room etc. There's more details about what might be involved on the forums. Feel free to come along if you're interested!

Laser Quest
Still organising this for Reading Week (or a date nearby to) - if interested then sign up on the forums or let me know by email.

The Quest for Beauty
Congratulations to everyone who was in the play, it's now finished and was awesome!

Huh, that seems to be it. (I'll have to fire my speech writing team out of a hellcannon again)

Enjoy the week!

The Bugs are Back!

11/01/10

Hey all!

Firstly, happy new year to everyone. It's late I know, but UCL's year doesn't start until today then I can pretend!
Hopefully you've survived the holidays and the actually quite seasonal weather that took everybody by surprise (twice!). Also hope that everybody's timetables this year aren't filled with too much pain and torment, in lecture form.

In this week's email:

Events in the first week

Hoodies

Awesome Star Marines Laser Battle *pew pew*

Reminders

Events:

RPG: Various Days
It's the start of a new term, so there's an open offer out for starting any new RPG which you might want to play/run. We're happy to look into organising whatever set of rules takes your fancy in whatever universe that might be! So if you suddenly feel the urge to pretend to be a seven foot orc wielding a warhammer crafted from the skulls of your enemies then you have two options!
1) See a doctor. Or
2) Join the madness by emailing our RPG rep at theaoc@live.co.uk!

Games which I know about that will be continuing from last year are:
Dark Heresy
Paranoia
Dungeons and Dragons 3.5ed (possibly, dependent on retrieval of GM from warp anomaly known as the internet)
Star Wars

Film Night: No Film Night this week. See Below!

The Quest For Beauty: Thursday, 6pm, Meet in the Quad. Performance starts at 7pm at the Hen and Chickens Theatre, Islington.
This year, the Immortals have come to London! (And Islington was the top of their sightseeing list...ah the whims of pan-dimensional beings).
Shamelessly copying from the official description:

"Imagine the one you secretly love is Beauty itself...you haven’t got a chance have you? This is the personification of Vengeance’s lot in existence; weary of the repetitive nature of his work, Beauty is the one soul that can cheer him; but there’s no way he can’t tell her how he feels. But when rumour and hearsay lead Beauty to believe that Vengeance is, like everybody else, interested only in her looks, she flees existence itself.

It’s up to Vengeance and Death to track her down and prevent the deterioration of all life. Their journey takes them through lands, each stranger than the last: Fairies! Shadows! Comic Book Stores!

The Quest for Beauty is an exciting new comedy that mixes romance and drama in a script lined with pop culture references that represent the fantastic as normal and the mundane as fantastic."

Following last year's success in the UCL Garage, the Quest for Beauty is currently showing at the Hen and Chickens Theatre in Islington. The play was written by former society member Michael Eckett and stars several society members/ex members - so in rabble-like fashion there'll be a society organised trip to see the play this Thursday evening instead of Film Night! We'll also be subsidising the cost of tickets (because the show is that awesome) by £2 per ticket. So bring along £8 on Thursday when you come to see it!

The play is running until next Saturday, for repeat viewings and to allow the development of varying degrees of Vengeance/Death fandom. Tickets can be booked here, although I'll have tickets for Thursday:

Wargaming: Wednesday, 6pm in the CSC
For weeks contact was lost with the Eta Carinae sector, it was unknown whether the conflict continued or abated due to the sinister mechanisations of the dark powers. However now the war for Eta Carinae continues! Battlefleet Gothic engagements continue on Wednesday (and usually Friday, but not this week) in the CSC. Warhammer 40,000 games can be organised through the forums!

Hoodies:
Society Hoodies will be arriving some time at the beginning of this term. The Dark Tower is currently waiting on replies from several printing companies about pricing and other such issues. (Like whether the portrait of the Dark Lord, to be printed on every hoodie, is suitably flattering*). I'll let you know about prices when I hear back. If you come up with something witty or poignant to personalise yours then email me it!

The Aforementioned Awesome Star Marines Laser Battle
Following the success of the Dark Legion at paintballing last year, there is likely to be another cataclysmic battle against the Anime Society later this term. And this time the Japanese Society may be coming along with us, who knows which side they will take! We're looking at dates around Reading Week (currently the 13th Feb) and at a Laser Tag place in Bromley which is just outside London. If you're interested then let me know (email/forum post/text/telepathy**).
There probably won't be any walks along the side of A roads this time though, sorry to disappoint.

Reminders:

Library: The Society Library is available to borrow from, free of charge for all members. It also grew again after the quiz against Imperial, so the list will be updated again soon. (When I find the right box in the cupboard). The list is also now available on the society website. www.uclsf.org.uk

Website: The website is undergoing a few changes. The library list is now available on there, weekly events should appear on the website this term and I'm told there'll be a archive of the emails. (I guess that'd be useful for charting my rise to world domination or something).

The Society: We're still as awesome as ever, if not more awesome. Regular events are still free and running all term, so feel free to come and say hello. I might even promise to put some slightly more serious films on the film list this year.

Refreshers Fayre: There won't be a SFFS stall at Refreshers Fayre this year, because there won't be any society stalls! The Union are putting up three stalls for Arts, Sports and General Societies respectively.

Comments/Suggestions: Despite the imposing visage of the Dark Fortress, I'm open to any comments or suggestions for things the society could do or try to organise. As we approach summer and leave the wintry hoth-like temperatures behind there's lots of time for visits or outings. Let me know if you have an idea!

That's it!

Enjoy the first week back!

Mark O'Brien
President
UCLU Sci Fi and Fantasy Society

*Actual portrait of the Dark Lord is not included with hoodie and must be purchased separately for £9.99 from any reputable minion.

Merry Christmas! or, How the UCLSF conquered the Internetz, and crushed it's enemies under it's mighty boot...

22/12/09

First of all, from the webmaster and commander of this site, and the rest of UCLSF cometee, I wish you all Merry Christmas!

This term has been a massive success for our society! It has been a time of grouth, conquest and glory!

Let's not forget the awesome Sci Fi End of the year party, where Our Lord Mark was officially crowned king of the universe. Truly, there is no greater force in existance like our Master and Commander. Here's a taster :
Dark Lord Mark!

Recently, blood was spilled in the name of the Geek Ones. The Sci Fi and Fantasy society proved thriumphant over the Anime society heathenrs, in the 1st annual paintball battle that is sure to be the stuff of legends for years to come! Dozens of hardend veterans of a thousand imaginary battlefield's and/or dungeons and/or space battles and/or japanise high schools and/or mecha duels met in glorious combat. Alas, there could be only one victor, and in the end of the day, Initiative rolls prevailed over the bloodcurling screams of Kawaaaaai!

In a more hearwarming, but equally epic story, watch me get PUNCHED IN THE FACE in our new feature movie, directed by our very own Fran, and starring many promenant sci fi members, including yours truly, and some random bystanders that just wanted their chance to punch me in the face! Truly, the Internetz is ours for the taking!

Pub crawl!

1/10/09

A society pub crawl is going to happen on the 9th of October, 7pm. We meet at the Main Quad, and proceed to get drunk! It's a brilliant opportunity for freshers to meet people from the society and see if it's the sort of group you'd want to mingle with! Most of us don't bite (though Pan has been known to).

Welcome!

1/10/09

Welcome to the home of the UCL SFFS Society! This website will be your one stop for everything sci Fi and UCL society related.

The aim of the UCL SFFS society is to celebrate the finer and geekier things is life, ranging from Sci Fi and Fantasy movies and books, RPG and Wargames such as D&D, Warhammer 40k and more...

The UCL Sci Fi society has been going strong for many years now, with events such as Weekly film showings, RPG and Wargaming Sessions, Society Trips, Expos, and of course, Pub Crawls! In the past, we've also had stuff like a Radio Show, and a Theater Play.

So, on behalf of all the members and the committee here at UCL SFFS, we bid you a warm welcome, and invite you to go boldly where your imagination and laspistol take you!

Website up !

30/09/09

The new website of the soc is up! Enjoy people! This is a work in progress obviously. It's still pretty basic, but it'll grow... yeesssssss it will groooow, my presssiousssss.
